SET DESIGN
In 2017, we faced a serious challenge to completely build a television set for the needs of „The Farm“ format, which aimed to show the authentic Slovenian household from the 20th century. The challenge was to build a set in the area of a protected nature ambience. The Copek mill is the only preserved mill from the pre-industrial period, and the challenge was not only to preserve the mill, but also to adapt all other facilities to a create and atmosphere of a century ago, without compromising the authenticity of this protected historical unit. In less than two months, we built more than five large facility buildings, which would be used as a tourist attraction after the end of the shooting. The big Arena, two main houses, stables and other suporting facilities are only a part of the complete infrastructure that had to be brought to purpose in a very short time. All the furniture is authentic and purchased specially for shooting purposes. This has become more than just a television set – a kind of an ethnographic museum.
SET DESIGN
In 2018, we created a completely different story at the same location. The entire infrastructure needed to be modernized. Former objects that have evoked a historical epoch had to be shifted into the future. This involved a completely new infrastructure and the construction of additional facilities that previously had not existed. So the main house got a large dining room and additional bedrooms. The task was not easy because it is a protected historical area that will be restored to its original state upon completion of the project shooting. The entire property is refreshed with new details, additional facilities, electricity, water, but also a complete infrastructure necessary for a demanding format such as “The Farm” – recording for more than 15 weeks in challenging and constantly changing weather conditions.
